Lakeshore’s Wild at Heart, the 2006 Best Anglo Nubian Buck of the Minnesota State Fair, has found a new home - the Philippines. The Braveheart Farms in Kidapawan City, North Cotabato to be exact.
After having been extensively used as herd sire for three years by top US Anglo Nubian breeder Sarah Koehn-Walberg of Blissberry Nubian Ranch in Minnesota, Wild at Heart, born April 2004 and an offspring of Kastdemur’s Final Justice and Grand Champion Lakeshore’s Ace of Hearts, Wild at Heart returned to Lakeshore Farms in Kelseyville, California late last year.

Braveheart Farms of Kidapawan City, North Cotabato, grandslam winner of the 2007 National Goat and Sheep Congress of the Philippines (NGSCP) Boer Goat Competition, is venturing into a new field – the breeding of outstanding Anglo Nubians and La Manchas.
The Anglo Nubians that Braveheart Farms will breed will come from top 2 dairy goat breeders in the United States namely the Kastdemur Dairy Goats of Redding, Northern California owned by Karen Senn and her daughters Krista and Erika, and the Lakeshore Farms of Kelseyville, Northern California owned by Megan Tredway-Carter and the Tredway family.

The Braveheart Farms of Kidapawan City, North Cotabato has acquired 100 additional Boer doelings from various goat breeders in Texas, a state known to be the livestock center of the United States of America.
The young doelings, the biggest importation ever made by the farm, will arrive in the Philippines in the first week of November and will boost Braveheart Farms efforts to produce more Boer breeding materials for local goat breeders.

Land Bank of the Philippines, a government financing institution focused on agriculture, has opened a new loan window for cooperatives and small entrepreneurs who would like to get involved in goat raising.
Delia Ladao, Land Bank Vice President for Mindanao, said that goat financing package offers a P565,187 loan payable in 5 years with a 21% counterpart from the proponent which could either be a cooperative or a small and medium scale entrepreneur.

THE GOAT INDUSTRY IS A BILLION $ GOLDMINE!

One of the controversial policies that I adopted for the Province of North Cotabato when I was Governor (1998 to 2007) was the “No Mining” position that is now enshrined in the Provincial Environment Code.
I say controversial because many sectors, including the mining group of course, have questioned this policy saying we are missing the opportunity of bringing about progress in our province.

The Boer Goat bug has bitten the moneyed goat fanciers of the Boom City of General Santos, dubbed as the Tuna Capital of the Philippine, and they are lining up to acquire some of the best Boer Goats from the Braveheart Farms.
Last Wednesday (Aug. 22), Rawhide Stevie, an imported Boer doe which was bred out of Ennobled Der Bo Hunk and Dream Quest Dena, was acquired by businessman Boy Oncada for P120,000.

They came in droves, in all colors, in all walks of life ogling and giggling at the Braveheart Farms boer goats which they all said are among the biggest goats they’ve seen in their whole life.
“Mommy is that a cow?” I heard an innocent child ask his mother pointing to the 17-month-old buck Riggin who weighs 98 kilos. “No, it’s a goat,” the embarrassed mother answered.

In its continuing effort to improve the quality of Boer goats in the Philippines, North Cotabato’s Braveheart Farms, has acquired another outstanding breeding buck, Rawhide Riggin.
The arrival of Riggin, who happens to be a half-brother of NGSCP National Champion Buck 70 Rocky, brings to five the number of breeding bucks now at the Braveheart Farms.

Braveheart Farms’ three outstanding Boer bucklings have continued to register admirable weight gains as they grow older.
The three - BHF Lebron, out of Rawhide Denali and Moonstone Lady, BHF Apo out of 70 Rocky and Rawhide Nike and BHF Shaquille, out of 70 Rocky and BHF Survive - are now 2 1/2 months, 1 1/2 month and 30 days old, respectively.
